Through this feature, a user's identity can be verified when needed, making the process of account recovery or ownership confirmation relatively easier. Additionally, it helps in detecting suspicious activities.

According to Facebook's Help Center information, users can activate this feature themselves to enhance account security.

How to enable Verification Selfie

First, enter the Facebook app and go to the three-line (menu) option on the right side. Then, select Settings from Settings & Privacy and enter Accounts Center.

From there, go to the Password and Security option and select 'Verification Selfie'. After selecting the account for which you want to enable the feature, press Next.

Then, a verification code will be sent to the email address associated with the account. Enter that code in the designated field and press Next again.

In the next step, click on the Start Selfie option and allow camera permission. Then, complete the selfie verification according to the instructions shown on the screen—such as moving your head, looking left and right, or changing your eye gaze. If the verification is successful, the feature will be activated.

However, according to experts, simply enabling this feature does not make the account completely secure. To strengthen security further, it is advised to use strong and unique passwords, keep two-factor authentication enabled, avoid clicking on unknown links, regularly monitor login activity, and keep your email and phone number updated.
