Fear of dengue severity in July-August, health minister urges caution

He said these things during an event organized at the Pathology Department of Dhaka Medical College in the capital on Thursday (July 2) afternoon.

The health minister informed that NS1 test kits have already been sent to the thana, upazila and district levels to identify dengue patients. Additionally, hospitals in Dhaka and other major cities of the country have been kept ready. If the number of patients increases, these will be fully operationalized.

He said that medical treatment alone is not enough to prevent dengue; increasing public awareness is also very important. To this end, people from various professions, including mosque imams at the union level, have been urged to keep the environment clean.

The minister further said that destroying mosquito breeding grounds and ensuring a clean environment are the most effective ways to control dengue. Therefore, in addition to government initiatives, active participation of the general public is also necessary to prevent dengue.
