Main rituals of Hajj begin today

According to the rules of Hajj, pilgrims will spend Monday day and night in Mina in worship and devotion. Then on Tuesday (9th Zil Hajj), they will leave Mina for the plains of Arafat to perform the main pillar or ritual of Hajj, known as Wuquf or standing in the plains of Arafat.

On Wednesday, the main rituals of Hajj will conclude with the sacrifice of animals, and Eid-ul-Adha will begin. After that, pilgrims will perform the farewell Tawaf of the Kaaba and start returning to their respective countries.

Intense heat is prevailing in the holy sites including Mina and Arafat. According to the Saudi Meteorological Department's forecast, the temperature on the day of standing in Arafat, i.e., Tuesday, could reach up to 45 degrees Celsius.

The Saudi government has taken special measures to protect pilgrims from the intense heat. Additional shades have been installed to ensure shade in the holy sites, mist fans or artificial fog-making fans have been set up, and adequate water arrangements have been made. Medical teams and mobile hospitals have also been kept ready to provide medical services to pilgrims. The Saudi authorities have advised pilgrims to use umbrellas and drink plenty of water to avoid heat-related illnesses.
